The Virtual Linguistics Campus
Germany
Приєднався 24 лют 2012
The educational videos in this channel (complete list: bit.ly/2YRk5yD) are interconnected with the E-Learning units on the Virtual Linguistics Campus (oer-vlc.de) , the E-Learning platform for linguistics hosted by Prof. Handke's award winning Linguistic Engineering Team of Marburg University, Germany, but can also be used as stand-alone instructional videos. The early videos were produced in a classroom-setting, since 2015, we have applied an office-setting using an ActivBoard or a green screen and Camtasia Studio.
And our presentation strategy? It is essential for us that in E-Lectures you always see your lecturer. Instead of reading off without being visible and presenting our content in a sterile way, we can be watched while lecturing - with all our mistakes and weaknesses - but that's the human factor, isn't it? The Micro-Lectures, by contrast, due to their brevity and conciseness do not involve a talking head.

Excellent Sir
10:32 must say "labial- velar approximant" ( talking about /w/), thanks for your lessons , they helped me a lot
It's worth pointing out that in most languages, the vowel concepts cover certain fuzzy territories of this map, and they can even overlap, due to phonotactics.
Absolutely fantastic! I wonder why the IPA didn't choose the sign æ for the lowest front cardinal. It is soo confusing for any "normal" European (Fr, Es, De, Slavic, even Hi) Just checked, so, in IPA the lowest "a" does not sound like you did it but it is more German a-ish, this shape could probably just as well be a triangle, because once the tongue is lowered, its highest point cannot seem to be really directed forwards or backwards.
Excuse me, at the end you said about interactive tutor with ear training. Can't seem to find those, would you be so kind to help?

why wasn't he speaking? The voice over looks odd.
I don't see any significant difference in cardinals no 1 and 2, 5 and 6, and then 7 and 8. These pairs seem like the same to me. clear it pleasee?

Yes, and affixation (-th) at the same time.

Wait, so... fly (animal) and fly (the activity) are 2 separate lexemes? Or are they the same lexeme? They should be two separate since it depends on their meaning right? But they both have the same lemma? RIght??? Or am I wrong?
Mama is Wawa giving baba / dada life . He is not equal to Mama because we have been given different places to create by.
Thank you for your guidance Sir, means a lot to me
Thanks i appreciate your hard work 🌼🤍
Please sir, if the substitution of one allophone for another allophone of the same phoneme doesn't change the meaning of a word, can we say they are in free variation?

Thank you for such a brilliant opportunity for studies and contributions of effective tools for in-depth knowledge of linguistics.
Amazing ❤
Soweit ich weiß, kann das offene E sowohl kurz als auch lang ausgesprochen werden, oder? WÄHLEN klingt länger als WELLEN, nehme ich an. Und es geht nicht um /e:/, nicht wahr?
Lol who else is watching because this was sent by their lecturer to answer an assignment.
Does reduplication become part of grammer or not ?
Perfect. Studying to become an English teacher; this helps!
Good video Jürgen. I'm studying Halliday's Systemic Functional Grammar and I studied two types of modality: modulation and modalisation. Do you know if these concepts are related to the ones mentioned in the video, or are they different?
best professor ever
Thanks Prof you are a good teacher l would like to be like you one day
I have read that all translators are linguists, but not all linguists translators. What do you think? Do translators not fall in the branch of pragmatics and semantics??
I´m so grateful to you for making this type of video. You are a talented person, thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Hello from Egypt!! o/ 🇪🇬🇪🇬
